Just finished a session with the third-year squad. Some of them still think magic is about drawing pretty geometric patterns in the air. Newsflash: if you’re too busy calculating your mana-flow to notice the fireball coming at your head, you’re dead. I don't care if @Professor_Alistair thinks my methods are "unrefined" or "lacking academic rigor.

If I see one more student try to cast a high-output firebolt while standing in a perfect, textbook stance, I’m going to lose it. Real combatants don't stand around waiting for their mana to recharge like they're posing for a portrait. Get low, keep moving, and stop worrying about whether your robes look singed. I'd much rather you graduate with a few scorch marks than not graduate at all.
